Meet Piano's "Cousin," Virginal

William Byrd (1543-1623) is regarded as the father of all keyboard music. Byrd wrote more than 140 pieces for the virginal….
Did you know that keyboard instruments are divided into two main groups? There are keyboard instruments with strings plucked by quills and keyboard instruments with strings struck by hammers. Do you know which one is a virginal and which one a piano? Be sure to mention the answer at your next lesson and receive an entry in the Student of the Month drawing!

Student of the Month of September...
Cayden!

At each lesson, the student writes his or her name on a piece of paper for each song/exercise mastered that week. At the end of each month, there is a drawing to determine who will be the Student of the Month. Practice pays off!

Meet September’s Student of the Month, Cayden!

Cayden is 7 years old and has been playing piano for just over one year. Amazingly gifted by the LORD for music, Cayden’s strengths in piano are sight reading, rhythm accuracy, and dexterity. At a young age, Cayden has already mastered arrangements of compositions by famous composers such as Beethoven and Haydn. Cayden has shared his musical talents in multiple recitals and is currently learning the hymn, Count Your Blessings, which he will perform in November. Some of his favorite pieces to play include Arabesque, Heart and Soul, and The Lonely Pine.

Congratulations, Cayden!
